John Lewis To Offer Twice As Many Graduate Jobs For 2011

29 Oct 2010

John Lewis To Offer Twice As Many Graduate Jobs For 2011 There will be more graduate retail jobs up for grabs at the popular high street retailer John Lewis in 2011.

The company has announced they will double the number of places on their overall graduate recruitment programme next year from about 16 to 32 graduate vacancies.

Sophie Milliken, recruitment manager at John Lewis, described what sort of graduate candidates John Lewis are looking for. “We’re looking for commercial people who can inspire and motivate teams and are not fazed by leading a big group of staff – which can be challenging when you are fresh out of university,” said Milliken. “We are really open-minded, it’s more about work experience and personality and what that candidate has to offer,” she added.

20 of the places that John Lewis is trying to fill are for graduate retail jobs in London and elsewhere at their 30 stores around the United Kingdom. The remaining 12 places are graduate buying and merchandising opportunities.

Competition is expected to be tough for all of these roles with John Lewis anticipating around 8,000 eager applicants for their graduate vacancies next year.
