Over A Third Of Staff With Call Centre Jobs Are Graduates

Over A Third Of Staff With Call Centre Jobs Are Graduates Over a third of all staff with full or part time call centre jobs in the UK at the moment are graduates according to a new survey produced by Top 50 Call Centres For Customer Service and Hays.

Over 300 call centre staff were surveyed for the report and it would seem that call centre jobs are currently being seen as a career choice for graduates. Simon Thorpe of Top 50 Call Centres For Customer Service said: "UK call centres offer excellent training opportunities and competitive salaries, plus the opportunity for graduates to develop their careers and move up the ladder, both within the call centre and across the wider organisation.”

Graduates would appear to be shaking off the image of call centre jobs as boring and badly paid to make up a substantial 35% of all staff in full or part time call centre roles. That represents a rise in the proportion of graduate call centre workers of 10 per cent since 2009.

Over 4 in 10 call centre bosses reported an increase in the number of graduates applying for call centre jobs.

Commenting on the survey’s findings, Carl Gilleard, chief executive of the Association of Graduate Recruiters, said that, "In difficult economic times, graduates are showing flexibility and adaptivity. It is great news for call centres, who are getting added value, but the challenge for them will be holding on to those people when the jobs market improves."

Earlier this week we reported that Tesco Mobile is looking for call centre staff in the North West.

If you are looking for a part time or graduate job in London, the North West or elsewhere in the UK then why not consider a spot of call centre work? If we have any current call centre vacancies in the capital then you will find them on the e4s Call Centre Jobs – London page.
