Students interested in the market for graduate finance jobs in London will be pleased to learn that Metro Bank are creating a further 100 new banking jobs in addition to the 150 they have already filled.
Chief executive of the Metro Bank, Craig Donaldson said of the new finance jobs: “People have overwhelmingly responded to Metro Bank’s service and convenience model, and we are preparing to double the number of our staff to meet demand for a better banking experience.”
After a successful start to business at their Holborn branch – or store as Metro Bank like to say – they began their expansion with a new branch on Cromwell Road, Earl’s Court in London last week. They now have plans to open two more ‘stores’ by the end of 2010.
And Metro Bank does not think that the expansion of their business, which attempts to focus on customer service, will stop there – they plan a further 8 new outlets next year and 12 more in 2012. The long term aim of the new banking firm is to have 200 new bank branches within the next 10 years which could create hundreds more general banking and graduate finance jobs in London and the rest of the UK.
Metro Bank claim to have had a bumper start to their banking business since they began trading in July. Mr Donaldson said last week that within one month they had already surpassed their year’s target for new account openings. He did, however, decline to give any actual numbers so as not to alert their competitors.
