16 Aug 2010

Intercontinental Hotel Creating Thousands Of Jobs In London And Elsewhere Intercontinental Hotels, the biggest hotelier in the world and parent group of Holiday Inn, has pledged to open a well-appointed new hotel in Westminster creating many catering jobs in London in the process. This new luxurious hotel will be just one of 35 new hotels that the Intercontinental group plans to open around the UK in the coming years.

Two of the new hotels will take the Crowne Plaza branding, three will open as Stalybridge Suites and a further five will be Hotel Indigos. The majority of the new hotels, however, will be Holiday Inns with 24 locations around the UK already identified.

The Intercontinental Hotel Group already run 255 hotels in the UK but have more than four thousand across the world. The group accounts for around 650 thousand rooms around the globe.

Around 3,000 new catering and hospitality job opportunities in London and elsewhere are expected to open up as a result of the Intercontinental Hotels expansion over the next three years.

This encouraging catering job news comes after better than expected financial figures from the IHG hotel group who have recently announced an increase of over 20 per cent half year profits to £137 million. Much of the company’s good fortune lately has been put down by IHG chief executive Andrew Cosslett to a resurgence in the number of business travellers.
