Poundland Creating 140 Full Or Part Time Jobs In Northern Ireland Poundland, the discount retailer which sells everything for just £1, is creating 140 new full or part time jobs in Northern Ireland with the opening of 20 stores this year.

There will be a range of full or part time jobs on offer at various levels. Anyone interested in store management or assistant management positions at Poundland should head for the Poundland careers website for details on how to apply. Store colleagues jobs, general assistants and warehouse operative jobs will be advertised at local job centres.

Poundland, based in the West Midlands, first ventured into business in Northern Ireland when they opened a store in Belfast last year. The new full and part time jobs in Northern Ireland with Poundland will be spread out at outlets in Ballymena, Bangor, Dungannon, Enniskillen, Londerry and Newry.

Poundland’s business model has prospered during the financial crisis as the number of bargain-hunters swelled. Year-end figures for 2009 showed Poundland’s profits more than double on the previous year from £4.2 million to £8.6 million.

Director of retail operations at Poundland, Tim McDonnell, said that Poundland had been a major success in Northern Ireland and was actually being forecast to outperform all other regions in the UK. That was why they were starting to look to recruit the right staff with the most suitable skills to help them expand further.
