Deloitte, the international accounting and consulting company, have said that they intend to fill over 1,100 graduate jobs in finance and other professional disciplines over the next twelve months.

Giving details of the new graduate recruitment drive which commenced at the beginning of this month, Sarah Shillingford, Graduate Recruitment Partner at Deloitte, said that the company were open to graduates who had studied in various academic subjects. Graduate job vacancies will be available in audit, tax, corporate finance and consulting and the company is still looking to fill graduate jobs for the autumn 2010 intake after an increase in the number of positions on offer.

Pointing out that a finance-based degree was not the major consideration of Deloitte Shillingford said that, “The majority of our vacancies offer candidates the opportunity to study for professional qualifications alongside soft skills training, so a strong desire for development is essential. Overall we look for a well-rounded skill set with a strong academic background.”

Shillingford advised that research was one of the most important factors in graduate job success. She stressed that students should not wait until the end of their university life before starting the process of looking for a graduate job.
