Students searching for the best broadband deal might be interested in a new survey by Which?
The research by the independent consumer body involved questioning 11,000 members about their broadband use and asked them to rate their current provider.
Global Max Broadband was the top-rating provider. Their broadband packages start at £19.99 a month for an eight Mbps capped service - although they are only available for a 12-month contract.
Which? broadband ratings categories included those for overall satisfaction, customer service, connection speed, reliability, technical support and ease of set-up.
Philip Wilkinson, CEO of comparison site Broadband Genie, said: "It's interesting to see that Global Max Broadband topped the Which? survey as this company isnt widely known.
"Big providers such as Orange and Sky lagged behind in terms of customer satisfaction so this is more evidence that these firms would be well advised to pay more attention to customer satisfaction."
Other broadband providers highly rated by Which? included Waitrose Broadband, Zen and Metronet.
Students in the UK are spending more time on the internet that ever before. Huge numbers are choosing to bank, shop and find dates online.
The number registering on social networking sites such as Facebook and MySpace is also continuing to rise.
There is evidence to suggest that some students are using the net to download the work of others and pass it off as their own. Google recently announced that it would be banning advertising by companies offering to provide students with tailored essays.
