The Swindon B&Q will help the D.I.Y. company carry out its nationwide distribution more efficiently while also reducing CO2 emissions and improving other environmental factors.

The new Swindon jobs will be based at Gazeley G-Park and will cover the same area as twenty football fields. The development of the site is due to be completed by January 2012.

Chief Executive of the Thames Valley Chamber of Commerce group, Paul Briggs, said the new B&Q centre, and the full and part time jobs it would bring to Swindon, were great news for the local economy. “It has come at a time when there is doom and gloom about the national state of play and just goes to show how much confidence there is in Swindon. It also is going to be doing something for the environment with the reduction in CO2 emissions which is a plus.”
