Hays, the recruitment company, has said that the number of job vacancies on their books made have seen significant increases in the last 4 months. They have also placed more people in jobs in Scotland in the same period.
The number of permanent jobs in Scotland has increased the most, but there has also been a rise in the number of temporary jobs in Scotland too. Hopefully, this labour market activity will also make it easier to find holiday jobs and student jobs in Edinburgh and elsewhere in the country.
There have been rises in the number of permanent and temporary jobs on offer in the banking and finance sector along with increases in demand for HR staff and IT people.
Operations Director at Hays in Scotland, Akash Marwaha, said that we should not expect the economy in Scotland to recover instantly but that they are seeing signs of renewed confidence in the jobs market in the country. Marwaha advised that: “Going forward, it is vital that businesses focus on investing in their staff. It is this support that will help not just the growing industries, but also the more static ones, such as the construction market, return to stable and sustained growth.”
