275 New Temporary Jobs At Resurgent Land Rover Land Rover, the West Midlands based vehicle manufacturer, has announced 275 new temporary jobs will be created at their Solihull plant to help out with increased demand at the company. The new temporary staff will begin work at Land Rover immediately.

After suffering during the recession, sales at Land Rover have been steadily improving over the last seven months. In fact, in March this year they sold 11,300 vehicles – up 67% on March 2009 - giving the company their best ever UK sales figures since they started trading over 60 years ago.

These impressive sales figures have led to them adding the extra 275 temporary jobs to the 5,000 staff they already employ at Solihull.

The Solihull factory produces a range of vehicles for Land Rover including the Range Rover and Range Rover Sport models along with the Defender and Discover 4.

Managing director at Land Rover, Phil Popham, said the new temporary jobs were great news for the manufacturing industry in the region. Explaining the upsurge in sales Popham added that: "It comes as a result of a phenomenal response received from customers and the media to the 2010 model year range, giving Land Rover an incredible start to the year."
