30 Apr 2010

More Positive News For Graduate IT Jobs Further to our graduate IT job news article earlier in the month, there has been further positive news about the wider IT jobs market which will have an impact on graduate IT jobs in London and the rest of the UK.

The IT Job Board has reported a 16% quarter on quarter increase in the number of IT job vacancies. The majority of the IT jobs – graduate or otherwise – for the period January to March this year were in IT management and IT support positions. Other vacancies that employers are looking to fill are project management roles, software engineering jobs and SQL expertise positions.

Anyone looking for London IT jobs for graduates will also be interested to hear that there is also rising demand for people well versed in IT security and those with good .net skills. IT security jobs increased by two-thirds and .net vacancies by half in the period studied.

There is also evidence that the IT job market for contractors is improving after a dismal 2009. The number of IT vacancies for contract work rose by over 50% in the three months to the end of March. A report by the Adecco Group, also released this month, said: "It’s almost certain that the worst is now behind us and that, after battering down the hatches in 2009, IT contractors can look forward to a better 2010 and 2011"
