KPMG Raises Graduate Job Recruitment Levels

26 Apr 2010

KPMG Raises Graduate Job Recruitment Levels KPMG, one of the Big Four accounting and financial services companies, is raising the number of graduate jobs, school leaver jobs and internships available from 900 to 1,000 as of September this year.

The added graduate positions will be in the Tax and Audit sections of the company and will mean that KPMG will have places for 820 graduates in their business this year. In 2009, KPMG only had graduate job slots for 600 people.

These figures are an increase even on the forecasts that KPMG made back in February, suggesting that the pace in demand for accountancy, auditing and other financial advice is picking up with the wider upturn in the economy. Initially, in February, they expected to have around 750 graduate jobs up for grabs but now they have raised that figure by around a third. The new recruitment drive for graduates, school leavers and interns will put KPMG back to its vacancy levels of 2008.

KPMG’s Head of People, Michelle Quest, said that KPMG were very pleased that they could increase the number of young people they were taking onto their payroll. Quest said, “There is a perception in the market place that there is nothing available for students in the current economic climate, and indeed many students may have given up even looking. However, the signs are – in other employers as well as KPMG – that the situation is improving. There are places for the right people.”
