Employers' Step Up In Recruitment Might Bring More Graduate Jobs

03 Feb 2010

Employers' Step Up In Recruitment Might Bring More Graduate Jobs The new Report On Jobs for January, released by REC and KPMG today brings some further encouragement to anyone looking for permanent vacancies or graduate jobs at the moment.

The jobs market for permanent positions rose for the sixth consecutive month in January. The pace of the increase reached a 30 month climax in December but also continued strongly throughout the first month of the New Year. Also, the number of temporary placements and contract jobs was up significantly in the same period.

The report also revealed that salaries for permanent jobs continued their upwards path in January – albeit at slightly slower pace than previous months. Also, temporary and contract job pay got a slight boost for the first time in 16 months.

The Head of Business Services at KPMG, Bernard Brown, said, The UK jobs market is continuing its journey back to health. Placements of permanent and temporary jobs have been rising again in January although at a slower pace than a month before.”

Kevin Green, Chief Executive of REC, added that, “The number of vacancies reported by recruitment businesses also accelerated at the sharpest rate since July 2007, suggesting that we are now on the long road to recovery.”

This is all welcome news for anyone in hoping to land a graduate job this year as this upturn in the wider job market should hopefully have a positive impact on the graduate job sector. We can certainly help you find the latest graduate vacancies out there with our graduate job search pages.
