The new £2.9 million CityEast business centre could create nearly one hundred new full and part time jobs in Belfast.
The site, located on the Newtownards Road in the Northern Ireland capital, is expected to help with the regeneration of the area by enticing new small and medium sized companies to the development.
Naomi Long, the Lord Mayor of Belfast said that “The CityEast development will provide a gateway to east Belfast and will hopefully be a catalyst for further investment in the area. She added that the fact that the project will help create up to 90 new full and part time jobs in Belfast in the next few years was fantastic news that would give a shot in the arm to the local economy.
The £2.9 million project was jointly funded by the International Fund, East Belfast Enterprise, the EU Peace and Reconciliation and the Department of Enterprise, Trade and Investment.
Colin Lewis, the deputy secretary of the Department of Enterprise, Trade and Investment, said he was delighted that the DETI had helped with the funding of the complex, and pointed out that the development had already created over 70 new Belfast jobs. Lewis added: “CityEast provides an environment in which businesses can flourish and grow. I am confident that it will continue to contribute to the growth of the local economy and play an important role in the long-term prosperity of the area.”
