A further piece of welcome news for those of you hoping to find a graduate job in finance has just been revealed. The recruitment specialist Badenoch & Clark have reported that recruitment is starting to revive in the financial services and banking sectors.
The findings are courtesy of the company’s most recent focus on professional talent. In addition to the financial sector, their figures also suggest that the market for jobs in retail, fast moving consumer goods (FMCG) and IT is also stirring.
Associate director of banking and financial services at Badenoch & Clark, Guy Emmerson, said that although applications for long term positions in banking and finance are still falling slightly, more people are filling temporary contracts in the sector. It is encouraging that more jobs are being created in banking as that should lead to more graduate jobs in finance in the coming months.
Nicola Linkleter, an executive director of procurement at Badenoch & Clark, said that as the recession is starting to burn out, consumers are becoming more confident and that is leading to ‘a significant increase’ in the demand for junior executives in the FMCG sector.
Also, the managing director of Badenoch & Clark, Neil Wilson, gave encouragement to the IT sector, indicating that the purse strings in IT budgets around the UK are starting to loosen. Wilson said: “The prospect of an end to the recession is encouraging many businesses to relax controls on IT project work, leading to an increased demand for business analysts, project managers and implementation professionals.”
