02 Dec 2009

The new pubs will cost an average investment of a million pounds each.

Even now JD Wetherspoon is a big employer in the UK. They currently employ over 20,000 people in both full and part time jobs and hope that the expansion drive will see their workforce increase by a further 50 per cent. Wetherspoon are proud that they are often voted as one of the UK’s Top 100 Employers in an industry notorious for high staff turnover.

Tim Martin, the chairman of Wetherspoon who opened his first pub in 1979 when he was just 24, said: "Our pubs are extremely popular and we wish to build on their success by opening more. I am confident that the new pubs will be an asset to their respective towns and cities."
