Anyone looking for graduate IT jobs in London and elsewhere will be encouraged by a recent survey by First Point, the specialist recruiter of IT professionals.
The survey, reported on by Onrec, the online recruitment magazine, shows that most hopefuls are still securing graduate IT jobs in London and around the country very quickly.
350 candidates were canvassed in the survey – and half of them had landed a new job within three months. Just 16% said that it had taken a year or longer to find a placement. This is encouraging news in these recessionary days.
Tom Fahey, First Point’s Managing Director said, “These figures clearly show just how in demand good IT people are. Information technology remains a key business need across all industries. The fact that both permanent and temporary workers continue to find work in a short period of time demonstrates the value placed upon skilled personnel.”
Candidates with skills in software development such as Scrum, Microsoft SharePoint, Agile, Silverlight and those with experience of software testing are still finding good opportunities in the market for graduate IT jobs in London and the rest of the UK.
The survey also revealed that people are starting to feel that staying in the same job for an extended amount of time might give them more security. 4 in 10 of the people asked said that they were ‘very likely’ not to be moving on to a different job in IT. A similar number of candidates said that they could be persuaded to switch jobs but stressed that this would be ‘strongly influenced by the role offered.’
