A TV interview with Capt Donna Greaves and Capt Andrew Lawson about the ins and outs of MOD life has been released online to highlight the career options available within the army for graduates.
The British Army is one of the UK’s largest employers, with over 100,000 trained staff, offering career options in 140 trades including: combat, engineering, logistics support, IT, intelligence and communications, HR and finance, medical, musical and ceremonial. The TV interview aims to dispel some of the myths and misconceptions about working in the Army by focussing on the broad range of career opportunities available, as well as the training options that can improve transferable skills to aid future career progression.
Whilst combat roles within the Army can lead to spending time in front line operations, there are a multitude of other career roles within the Army which offer opportunities to travel, develop leadership skills, and take part in sporting activities and adventurous training.
Successful graduate applicants can go straight into Army Officer training at Sandhurst in Surrey, before applying for roles within units across the UK. The pay and benefits package for graduate Officer cadets is highly competitive, including a starting salary of over £23,000 a year, a final salary pension scheme, subsidised food and accommodation, as well as free medical and dental care.
