Debenhams To Create 1,200 Full And Part Time Jobs

20 Mar 2009

Debenhams To Create 1,200 Full And Part Time Jobs Debenhams has become the latest employer to buck the recessionary trend by announcing that they will create 1,200 full and part time jobs over the course of the next two years.

In spite of half year sales being down by around three and a half percent, the retailer has said that they will increase their current stock of 153 outlets by a further eight new stores in the coming months. The chief executive of Debenhams, Rob Templeman, said that they were pleased with current sales figures "given the extremely difficult trading conditions experienced across the high street". He added that although Debenhams had seen like-for-like sales edging downwards in the last few months, the value of both their transactions and margins had improved and that this had helped them to increase profits.

Six of the new stores will be in Bath, Newcastle upon Tyne, Kidderminster, Carmarthen, Bury and Wakefield. There will also be two smaller new ventures in Monks Cross, York and Witney, Oxfordshire. The expansion will enable them to add the forecast number of full and part time jobs.

You will find details of the sort of working life you could expect from Debenhams on their Careers Home page. And, you can find all the latest jobs they have on offer on the Current Vacancies section of the Debenhams website. If you are looking for other part time jobs in retail, or indeed any other sector, then you can choose from all the latest positions on our own part time jobs search page. With Easter approaching soon you will also find information on holiday jobs on that page too.
