Graduate Jobs At Tesco Can Bring You £140K Within 4 Years

Graduate Jobs At Tesco Can Bring You £140K Within 4 Years Research by Tesco, the supermarket company, has claimed that people who take up graduate jobs with them could have earned £140,000 within just four years.

Their research looked at a dozen career paths in the graduate job world to see what people can expect to have earned by the age of 25 – factoring in such things as training and education costs. The most lucrative choice would seem to be that of the graduate management consultant who could have received £155,000. Coming in next in second place is the graduate who has taken a career at Tesco; they can expect to have grossed £140,000 by the same age.

Amongst the other graduate job options, and in the same four year time-scale, architects would only achieve £35,300, doctors just £40,333, newspaper journalists £63,550, solicitors slightly over £73,000 and teachers in excess of £80,000.

The starting salary for a graduate at Tesco is £23,000 – but this rises to £30,000 for a deputy store manager and £47,000 for those who progress to manage a store. And, this kind of career progression is achievable within the first four years, Tesco say.

Tesco’s UK operations personnel director, Hayley Tatum, said of the findings that, “Our graduate schemes are renowned for providing our graduates with a high level of involvement and responsibility from day one, and the fact that training is done on the job allows them to get involved straight away. But, alongside this high level of responsibility come great rewards, and we pride ourselves on providing very competitive starting salaries and a fast track programme that allows our graduates to move up the career ladder at a great pace“.

She added that, although some recruiters in the graduate job market are downsizing or even removing their graduate recruitment schemes altogether, Tesco were committed to their graduates and are still attracting the cream of them to their company.

And, for those of you interested in working overseas, Tesco have many graduate opportunities in Europe and Asia. You can check out all of the Tesco careers and benefits available on their Graduate Homepage or search some of your other career options on e4s’ very own graduate jobs search page.
