9,000 new uk full and part time jobs to be created by kfc
17-Feb-2009

9,000 New UK Full And Part Time Jobs To Be Created By KFC KFC (Kentucky Fried Chicken), the fast food chain, has announced that they will create 9,000 full and part time jobs in the United Kingdom in the next 3 to 5 years.

They have ambitious plans to open between 200 and 300 new outlets to cater for the public’s insatiable desire for eat-in and take-away fast food. The move, expected to cost somewhere in the £100 to £150 million region, will take KFC’s total number of outlets in the UK to around the one thousand mark. The expansion begins with an expected 44 new restaurants in 2009 – each generating between 25 and 40 full and part time jobs.

The company, home of the toasted twister and the famous bargain bucket of fried chicken, already employs over 20,000 people in the UK but expects that figure to increase by almost half as much again in the next few years.

The Chief Executive of KFC, Martin Shuker, said, “There aren’t many companies who can be so positive in this market so we are delighted to be able to announce this significant investment in the UK. Our growth strategy demonstrates the strong demand from our customers; consumers clearly still want great quality food but at reasonable prices and that is exactly what we provide.”

Mr Shuker went on to point out that not only was KFC taking a share of the market from competitors like McDonald’s, but that the low-cost food sector as a whole was growing at the moment with people looking for cheaper options in “these difficult economic times."

Sales at KFC were up 6% overall last year and are already up 14% this year (compared with the same period in 2008). And this is nothing new, the company has increased its sales figures every year - except for one - of the last fifteen years.

There should be a mix of full and part time jobs on offer as Mr Shuker said that not all of the new jobs would be at the low-pay end of the scale. Check out the Careers section of the KFC website here or search e4s’ very own pages to find the best temporary and part time jobs.
