The discount supermarket pays university leavers a basic wage of £40,000 a year – and even throws in a new Audi A4 car for you to spin around in.
This attractive starting package compares very favourably to other major recruiters who offer graduate jobs. Microsoft only offers around £26,000 and ExxonMobil - the world's largest publicly traded international oil and gas company – can only stump up £31,500. In the public sector – the civil service fast-stream, for example - you could perhaps expect to begin your career with about £27,000.
And you don’t need to think that your graduate career starts and ends with £40k – it can rise in regular chunks to £60k after three years. Plus, the German-owned supermarket company offers the usual benefits - private healthcare, 25 days holiday, pension scheme and life assurance – along with a couple of more innovative incentives such as the chance of international secondment within 3 years and a place at the directors’ table within 5 years!
