Good news for ethically-minded students - a UK university has launched an MBA business degree in carbon management.

The University of East Anglia, which claims the course is the first in the world, aims to teach students how to manage in a "low carbon economy" which will need "a new breed of manager".

The one-year strategic carbon management degree will teach business strategies which are both economically viable and environmentally sustainable.

As reported by the BBC, Bob Watson, chief scientist at the World Bank, has welcomed the course as "demonstrating that being climate conscious is good business".

The launch of the course is another indication that big business is beginning to take the issue of climate change seriously.

Barclaycard recently launched a new credit card which is intended to tackle climate change.

Barclaycard Breathe offers customers lower rates and discounts to promote environmentally-friendly spending.

It also seems likely there will be plenty of environmentally-friendly jobs available when these MBA students graduate.

As the Engineer reported recently, Jens-Peter Saul, managing director of Siemens Power Generation in the UK, said: "The [renewable energy] market in the UK and worldwide is really exploding.

"There is outstanding growth, especially here, after many years of inactivity."
