Finalists know what they want

20 Apr 2007

Finalists know what they want Final-year students have clear ideas about which companies they want to work for, according to the Times.

The Times Graduate Recruitment Awards were held last week and for the fourth year running professional services firm PricewaterhouseCoopers was voted Graduate Employer of the Year by university finalists, who thought the company offered the best opportunities for graduates.

Other companies doing well at the awards included, among others, Marks & Spencer, Proctor & Gamble, IBM, Shell, the law firm Linklaters, the BBC and investment bank Goldman Sachs.

The awards were based on interviews with more than 17,000 final-year students. Responses indicate that many students do know exactly what they want to do when they leave university, and which companies will best meet their needs.

From an employment point of view, it's a good time to be a finalist. Graduate vacancies are running at a ten-year high and able graduates are being fought over by the UK's top companies.

So, if you do a bit of research and check out the different employers before you leave university, you should be able to aim high in your chosen field.
