UCAS launches "ultimate online platform" for students The university admissions service UCAS has launched a student networking site, the Guardian reports.

The yougofurther site will allow prospective and existing university students to "meet" and chat online.

UCAS Media, the commercial side of the admissions service, claims it will provide "the ultimate online platform" for students.

Lisa Feege, project manager for the site, said: "We have created a fantastic new platform for students to help them get the most out of their time at university and ultimately progress their careers."

The site allows students to upload work to show prospective employers.

There are also sections specialising in financial and careers advice.

UCAS has teamed up with companies including iTunes, Lonely Planet and Cult Clothing in the venture, which will also offer competition prizes and news on subjects including fashion, music and travel.

UCAS said the site would also be valuable in letting undergraduates get to know each other before they start university, as well as giving existing undergraduates the opportunity to exhibit their skills to employers online.
