We highlighted in the <a href="http://www.e4s.co.uk/blogs/broadbandblog/"title="The e4s Broadband Blog" >e4s Broadband Blog last month that <a href="http://www.e4s.co.uk/blogs/broadbandblog/2010/10/25/broadband-helps-sky-to-the-brink-of-10-million-customers/"title="Sky Aiming For 10 Million Customers" >Sky were heading towards the 10 million customer mark. Well, now we are happy to bring you news that Sky TV have now cruised through that milestone well ahead of target.

Sky TV wanted to breach the 10 million customer level by the end of 2010 so they’ve actually accomplished it with weeks to spare. The original target was set back in 2004 by Sky TV’s ex-chief executive James Murdoch. Since Murdoch set the 10 million figure, Sky TV have added over two and a half million customers.

Sky TV is now installed in over a third of UK and Irish homes and beams out to 25 million pairs of eyes.

Jeremy Darroch, chief executive of Sky, said: “To be the choice of 10 million families is a big achievement. Sky has always been a forward-looking company and we will continue to invest in content and innovation. That’s the best way to satisfy existing customers and create new reasons for people to join in and take more from us.”

<a href="http://www.e4s.co.uk/docs/sky-digital-tv.htm"title="Sky TV Offers" >Sky TV offers some of the best television, films and sports viewing available and Sky packages can be found for under £20 a month. They also offer bundles where you can access Sky TV, broadband and phone calls as part of the same package. Very often they run special campaigns with added incentives such as M&S vouchers. We keep our eyes peeled for the latest Sky TV campaigns so that you don’t have to.

If you want to help Sky move towards the 11 million mark by taking out one of the Sky packages then take a look over our <a href="http://www.e4s.co.uk/docs/sky-digital-tv.htm"title="Sky TV Deals" >Sky TV Deals page. There you’ll find all of the latest Sky offers for your viewing pleasure.

You can watch films for free on <a href="http://www.e4s.co.uk/docs/sky-digital-tv.htm"title="Sky Packages" >Sky packages this weekend starting from 6pm tomorrow (29th October 2010) even if you don’t have a Sky Movies package.

In an effort to plug the Sky Movies channel, the broadcaster is screening a range of selected films on Sky Movies Showcase and Sky Movies Showcase HD to all Sky customers regardless of which Sky package they are signed up to.

Even Virgin Media cable customers can get a piece of the action from Saturday morning as the taster channels will be open for them to view from 6am as well. And don’t forget that the clocks are going back as well which means you’ll have an extra hour to watch these free Sky movies!

The films showing on Sky’s free movie weekend include Bolt, Gran Torino, Confessions of a Shopaholic, Transporter 3 and Coraline.

The ranks of Sky’s HD customers have swelled by over two hundred thousand in the last three months to reach over 3 million people.

A spokesperson for Sky said: “For those of you watching in HD, you can see all the movies in ridiculously sumptuous detail. So if you’ve only ever seen Forrest Gump when you rented it on video, or A Bug’s Life back when your dad recorded it onto VHS, you’re going to be stunned by how good films can really look.”

So, why not check out the latest <a href="http://www.e4s.co.uk/docs/sky-digital-tv.htm"title="Sky Deals" >Sky offers and choose a package to suit your tastes? You might as well do it this weekend so that you get the movies free even if you sign up for a basic Sky package from as little as £19 a month.

Don’t say we didn’t warn you! The <a href="http://www.e4s.co.uk/docs/sky-digital-tv.htm"title="Offers From Sky TV" >Sky TV offer of a FREE Sky+ Box is due to end at midnight tonight (28th October 2010).

If you are thinking of getting Sky TV installed in your digs then you will save yourself almost fifty quid by simply signing up for a Sky TV bundle today rather than tomorrow. The Sky+ Box usually costs £49 and allows you to watch Sky TV programmes when it is convenient for you since you can record, rewind or pause the onscreen action.

The basic Sky TV Bundle costs £19 a month for which you will get the free Sky+ Box, Sky TV, free broadband and free UK landline calls at weekends and evenings.

As well as getting a free Sky+ Box, you can also sign up for Sky TV online and receive a £25 Marks & Spencer voucher.

This deal is available to all new Sky TV customers or to existing Sky TV customers who upgrade to the Sky Multiroom package. Using Sky Multiroom you can add an additional Sky Box to other rooms in the home so that other members of the household can watch different Sky TV channels to the main Sky box. At the moment Sky Multiroom costs an extra £10 a month.

You’ll find Sky TV deals like this on our main Sky TV Offers page throughout the year. If you are interested in satellite TV then bookmark our <a href="http://www.e4s.co.uk/docs/sky-digital-tv.htm"title="Sky TV Deals & Offers" >Sky TV Deals page now to keep up to date with all of the best offers from Sky TV.

Time is running out if you are interested in one of the <a href="http://www.e4s.co.uk/docs/sky-digital-tv.htm"title="Sky TV Deals" >best Sky TV Deals of recent times. There are now only 6 days left for you to take up the offer of the Sky TV, Broadband and Talk package with a free Sky+ Box and a £25 Marks & Spencer voucher.

The Sky TV, Broadband and Talk package for £19 a month with the free £25 M&S Voucher deal is due to end on 23rd September. Sometimes in the past, Sky have been known to extend these kinds of Sky TV offers, but it’s probably best not to take that risk if this Sky offer looks like the one for you.

This Sky TV bundle deal gets you one Sky Entertainment pack, up to 20Mb broadband and free evening and weekend landline calls in the UK. To activate the free £25 Marks & Spencer voucher you simply need to join Sky TV online and you will receive your voucher within 45 days.

Also thrown in with this £19 a month Sky TV offer is a free Sky+ Box (which would normally set you back the best part of £50), free set up (normally £30) and a tenner knocked off your first month’s bill.

If you are keen to grab this Sky TV deal before the Marks & Spencer voucher offer ends then you will find details of how to apply on our <a href="http://www.e4s.co.uk/docs/Cheap_Digital_TV.htm"title="Cheap Digital TV Providers" >Cheap Digital TV page. There are also a range of other offers from Sky and other digital TV providers on that page.

There’s not long now until people with <a href="http://www.e4s.co.uk/docs/sky-digital-tv.htm"title="Sky TV Deals" >Sky packages will be able to watch the special 3D channel in their own homes.

If you have a 3D TV and a Sky+HD subscription that is!

On October 1, Sky TV will begin broadcasting Europe’s very first 3D channel featuring films and live sporting events. The first sporting event to take place on Sky’s new 3D channel will be three days of live Ryder Cup golf action. (Can you say golf action?)

Also to be screened in the first weekend are the two box office success stories Bolt and Monster vs. Aliens. Other films planned for the 3D channel are Alice In Wonderland, Harry Potter And The Half Blood Prince and Ice Age – Dawn of the Dinosaurs.

Jeremy Darroch, Sky’s chief executive, said at the end of August: “As with High Definition, 3D is set to transform the way TV is enjoyed in homes nationwide. Following hot on the heels of the success of 3D cinema, Sky customers will now be the first anywhere in Europe to experience 3D TV from the comfort of their living rooms. They can look forward to a fantastic mix of live sport, blockbuster movies, and innovative entertainment and arts shows.”

Sky 3D is already screened at over a thousand pubs and clubs in the UK and Ireland but from October the television in your own living room could be bursting out of the flat screen world. The price tag for a 3D-ready TV is not cheap though. The least you can currently expect to pay for a telly that you can watch Sky 3D on is around a thousand pounds. Some models though can cost up to £7,000.

If you are happy to watch things in 2 dimensions but are interested in Sky packages then head over to our <a href="http://www.e4s.co.uk/docs/sky-digital-tv.htm"title="Sky TV Offers" >Sky TV Deals page for the latest offers from Sky.

If you take your sports news from Sky Sports News then you, like us, will be disappointed to learn that you are going to have to start paying for the privilege via <a href="http://www.e4s.co.uk/docs/sky-digital-tv.htm"title="Sky TV Offers" >Sky packages or Pay TV later this year.

Millions of people in the UK have enjoyed the sports channel through Freeview for the past 8 years. Now though, Mr. Murdoch has decided that he needs more money so he has to start charging more for any News Corp content. It’s not unexpected we suppose given previous tactics by News Corp to increase their revenues – but we’re a bit fed up about it all the same. At least though, if you are considering <a href="http://www.e4s.co.uk/docs/sky-digital-tv.htm"title="Sky Packages" >Sky TV deals then you know that we’ll try to help you find the best Sky offers on the market at any time.

The production company behind Sky Sports News, British Sky Broadcasting (almost 40 per cent owned by News Corp at the moment) has explained the move by saying more investment needs to be put into the channel to make a high-definition version – making it the first HD sports news channel in Europe. To pay for that investment they say they need to remove the channel from Freeview and start getting some cash in through subscription customers.

As well as watching on Sky packages, customers of Virgin and TalkTalk TV subscriptions will also still be able to view the Sky Sports News channel.

It does make you wonder whether eventually other channels such as Sky News itself may be taken down a similar path. We’d guess not actually as they probably benefit too much from the publicity that Sky News brings from the sheer number of people that watch it for free.

But you never know…

If you are thinking of Sky TV deals at the moment, or would consider paying for Sky packages to pick up quality channels like Sky Sports News later in the year, then check out the E4S <a href="http://www.e4s.co.uk/docs/sky-digital-tv.htm"title="Sky TV Offers" >Sky TV Deals section of the site for the best prices.

Finally Sky and Virgin Media have brokered a deal which means Virgin Media will once again be able to screen Sky 1, Sky News, Sky Sports and a number of other channels. Since the dispute in early 2007, Sky pulled the plug on these channels being shown on Virgin Media TV meaning shows such as the Gallactica, 24 and everbodys favourite The Simpsons were “Lost” (Lost included).

So after the best part of 2 years Jack is back on Virgin Media. Whether Virgin Media stumped up the “doh” in the new carriage deals to encourage viewers of its entertainment channels back or Sky just realised that it had cost them £25 million in advertising revenue (no small drop in the ocean), we’ll never know.

Will this mean we’ll be any closer to working out what the hell happened to Oceanic Flight 815… I doubt it!!

If the though of Jack Bauer, Homer Simpson and the hot chick from Lost being on your screen gets you into a hot sweat… why not check out the latest digital tv deals from both Sky and Virgin Media and you can make your own choice!
