Barclaycard Platinum Balance Transfer Period Extended

Barclaycard has extended the balance transfer period on their Barclaycard Platinum card to 16 months making it one of the lengthiest interest free periods in the credit card market.

The offer is only available to new Barclaycard Platinum credit card customers and there is a handling charge of 2.9 per cent on the balance of the transfer. That would mean that transferring a balance of £1000 to the new Barclaycard Platinum from another credit card would cost just £29 – or less than £2 a month – for the 16 month term of the interest free period.

The Barclaycard Platinum credit card also boasts zero interest on purchased for the first three months and a reward scheme with the Barclaycard Freedom account which gets you money off at thousands of outlets across the country.

Another nifty feature of the Barclaycard Platinum credit card is that you can use it for contactless payment technology on purchases under £15. That should save you a bit of time at the checkout!

The typical APR on the Barclaycard Platinum credit card is currently 16.9 per cent.

Barclaycard now have over 11 million customers in the UK and a further 10 and a half million in the United States, Europe and Africa.

Barclaycard also offer a student credit card which has different incentives depending on when you apply. One such offer has been a free Dell notebook and 20 per cent discount on selected items at Argos. You can compare the Barclaycard student credit card with other credit cards for students on the e4s Student Credit Card page.
