According to money expert, the number of applications for credit cards which have 0% interest deals, especially on purchases, were up by 22% in November, on the previous month.

According to the same sources, the number of people just applying for credit cards in general, was also up, by a staggering 15.6%. An increase in credit card applications is usually seen both before and after Christmas, as people look to get access to more money for the festive season. Likewise afterwards – when people have to pay for it, and sometimes realise they have spent too much money, and a credit card seems to offer a temporary way of getting out of financial difficulty.

This increase though may not only be attributable to the festive season – the concern is that the current financial climate is driving more people towards credit cards, and that they are looking for the best credit card deals on the market to help with their financial situation.
