Statistics from car insurance provider Sheilas’ Wheels have shown just how much drivers of the male variety can be distracted by lady passers-by. 3 in 10 men confess that they have taken their eyes off the road because of ladies passing by in short skirts or low cut tops. This lack of attention at the wheel has apparently led to a swell in accident numbers in the hotter summer months when there is not as much cause to wrap up warm. Sheilas’ Wheels who specialise in car insurance for women say that the phenomenon is getting progressively worse with each passing summer. Last year male driver made over 16 per cent more claims in the summer months than in autumn, winter and spring. The car insurance provider also revealed that 1 in 4 male drivers had crashed in the summer – or narrowly avoided a prang – within the last five years. During the same period, only 1 in 6 women had only had summer smashes.
