TalkTalk has been losing <a href="http://www.e4s.co.uk/docs/broadband-phone-tv.htm"title="Internet Providers" >broadband internet customers at an average rate of over 8,000 a month between October 2010 and April 2011.

The troubles for the broadband provider began with its takeover of Tiscali in 2009. Over 60 thousand broadband customers were billed for internet services which they had cancelled. TalkTalk had to shell out over two and a half million pounds in compensation after the billing system errors.

The fallout has been so dramatic that TalkTalk have only actually increased their customer numbers by a net 2,000 people in the last 12 months.

At least TalkTalk realise the extent of the problem and the level of disgruntlement that has been caused to broadband internet customers. Dido Harding, chief executive of Talk Talk, recently said: “It has not been without pain. We’re very sorry for the disruption it caused customers. It is going to take time to repair that damage.”

Harding went on to say that progress was now being made and TalkTalk was improving its services for broadband internet customers. After the rocky period – which she compared to a snake trying to digest a goat – the start of this year has seen a steady start to new service contracts.

Like everyone else, students love a broadband internet deal when they see one. Why should you be any different? If you want cheap internet deals – or even FREE broadband deals – then you have ended up on the right website. Start looking for your ideal deal now from our <a href="http://www.e4s.co.uk/docs/broadband-phone-tv.htm"title="Internet Deals" >Broadband Internet section.

Some of the UK’s biggest names in <a href="http://www.e4s.co.uk/docs/broadband-phone-tv.htm"title="Broadband Internet Deals" >broadband internet deals have signed up to a new code which aims to bring more transparency to broadband speeds. The signatory’s have pledged to provide details, in a common format, of what traffic management they carry out and what effect it has.

BSkyB, BT, Everything Everywhere, O2, TalkTalk, Three, Virgin Media and Vodafone have all signed up to the new code which should help broadband customers make better decisions about which packages are most suitable.

With all of those internet providers onboard, 9 in 10 fixed-line broadband customers and 6 in 10 mobile broadband customers are covered.

The Broadband Stakeholder Group (BSG), the leading advisory group to the UK government for broadband, assisted in producing the code. Their Chief Executive, Antony Walker, said, “This commitment to provide clear and comparable information in a common format is very important. It will not only help to ensure consumers are better informed about the services they buy and use, but will also provide a clearer picture for policy makers of the way in which traffic management is actually used in the UK market.”

“Consumers need to be able to make informed choices about the services they buy and policy makers need to be able to make informed decisions about the policy and regulatory framework they set. This new commitment provides an essential building block for getting both of these things right,” added Mr Walker.

Did you sign up for the <a href="http://www.e4s.co.uk/blogs/broadbandblog/2010/08/19/six-months-free-broadband-with-talktalk/"title="Talk Talk Essentials Free Broadband Deal" >Talk Talk Essentials Broadband deal we blogged about last month? If not, then you now just have one week left to take advantage of their broadband offer as this internet deal will be pulled on 30 September.

A few minor detail changes are worth mentioning if you are interested in this particular broadband package from Talk Talk but haven’t signed up yet. In last month’s blog post about this internet deal we said that the standard line rental was £11.49 a month. Since then, TalkTalk have actually raised the standard line rental to £12.04 a month – but that is the only monthly charge that you will have to pay for the first six months of the contract. <a href="http://www.e4s.co.uk/docs/broadband-phone-tv.htm"title="Cheap Internet Deals" >Broadband of 40GB is free and so are weekend and evening phone calls to landlines in the UK. The only other cost associated with the first six months of this internet deal is the one-off connection fee of £29.99.

After the first six months of your Talk Talk broadband package are up, you will revert to the standard price for this internet deal which is standard line rental plus £6.99 a month for the broadband and phone calls. The minimum contract on this internet deal is 18 months and if you sign up for that long the total deal will set you back £330.59 once all charges are factored in.

Signing up for 18 months can give you access to some cheap internet deals like this one from Talk Talk. However, there are other great value internet deals around which only require a 12 month contract. Compare all of the best value options we have found from a variety of internet providers starting from our <a href="http://www.e4s.co.uk/docs/broadband-phone-tv.htm"title="Cheap Broadband Deals" >Broadband Deals homepage.

TalkTalk, one of the biggies in the world of <a href="http://www.e4s.co.uk/docs/broadband-phone-tv.htm"title="Compare Internet Providers" >internet providers, is now offering its Essentials broadband package with six month’s free broadband when you sign up with TalkTalk online.

Customers must sign up for an 18 month package before the end of September to get the first six month’s of their broadband contract absolutely free. Normally, the broadband element of the Essentials package costs £6.99 a month but that will be waived for the initial 6 months. Customers will only have to pay line rental of £11.49 during the free broadband period along with a £29.99 connection cost. That means that the total outlay for the first six months of this broadband package from TalkTalk will be under £100.

The TalkTalk Essentials package boasts broadband speeds of up to 24Meg, depending on your line and location. Also included in the tariff is 40GB of download allowance each month, a wireless router and a free Magic Desktop which helps children with their maths and English. That wud probably come in andy for uz!

For the phone part of the Essential package, you also unlimited evening and weekend calls to UK landlines, free voicemail and 10 per cent discount on 16 mobile or international numbers of your choice.

Once the initial six month offer period is up, the total package including line rental will revert to £18.48 a month for the remaining 12 months of the contract.

That’s another great internet deal spotted by E4S. Compare other internet prices and internet providers with all of the latest offers in our <a href="http://www.e4s.co.uk/docs/broadband-phone-tv.htm"title="Latest Phone, TV and Broadband Deals" >Broadband, Phone and TV section.
