Last week, BE Broadband announced that they will soon provide a landline service to compliment their current broadband service. The killer punch is that internet provider BE Broadband, not long since selected as the best consumer broadband provider by the ISPA, will undercut current prices for BT landline packages.

Apart from the money saved on the landline charge, one of the main attractions of this new service will be that the landline contract will run for the same length of time as the internet provider’s broadband contract. That means that you can sign up for broadband internet deals with BE that expire at the same time as your landline contract runs out and get one monthly bill for both services.

The new deal also leaves you free at the end of the contract to continue with both services should you wish to – or to switch over to another landline and internet provider if you are not happy.

BE Broadband offer speeds of up to 24meg and have priced themselves below BT on all 3 packages that they will offer. The available packages will be Landline, Evening & Weekends and Anytime. The cheapest option is the Landline package which costs just £9.50 a month (line only – calls are extra). The most expensive landline package is the Anytime deal at £13.50 – but for that you get free calls to UK numbers and 600 minutes to over 20 countries.

Managing Director of BE Broadband, Tom Williams, said that they had listened to members’ desire for a landline service which gives control to the customer. They will aim for contracts of minimal length – and without automatic renewal when the term ends – so that customers feel like they are in charge of their own broadband service. Williams said they were launching this new service because BE Broadband, “want people to be able to get on with living their online lives with minimal disruption, and the launch of the new landline service will help us to achieve this.”
